Personally, I think that all depends on the comfort level within a newer relationship. When it has gone on in years and she is absolutely comfortable, she just might not think it is a proper thing to do. I don't think there is anything to be ashamed about when passing gas, everyone does it, and not doing it around your signifigant other is just putting up a front of perfection.
