If blood is present in the sac the baby is in at 7 1/2 weeks, is this a sign of a problem or is this normal?

Question:
I was told this today and I am not sure I understand what it means. I am 38 and this is my 3rd child. Would my age have anything to do with this blood? I was told I need an indepth ultrsound and should stay off my feet for 2 weeks? I am wondering if this is a sign there is something more serious with my baby?

Answers:
You should see a doctor, the only thing I can really tell you is that in the sac the baby is in, there's only supposed to be amniotic fluid which is the urine from the baby.

Other Answers:
Have you talked to your OB? It is obvious that you are worried. Ask your OB what this means. He/she should be glad to answer your question and relieve your stress. Also, you can try webmd.com and good luck!

Amniotic fluid is NOT urine from the baby. Jeeze..this could be dangerous if people answer a serious question with totally incorrect info.

Have they scheduled your ultrasound? Follow the orders and stay off your feet. Calling the doctor back for a more detailed explination of what the possibilities are would probably put your mind at ease or at least make the time until you get your results more bearable. Unless they are jerks.they wont mind answering your questions to make you feel more comfortable.
