The CoffeeMate creamer packets that need no refrigeration: are those safe?

Question:
What chemicals or processes make it possible for a dairy product to keep without refrigeration? When you buy the stuff by the bottle in the store, you have to keep it refrigerated . . . I've got people in my office who refuse to use the single-shot nonrefrigerated kind because there's no explanation of how it works.

Answers:
Non dairy creamer:
Dissolves instantly in hot beverages.
Provides excellent whitening power.
Adds a smooth, rich taste to coffee or tea.
Packaged in a moisture-proof unit for added freshness.
Requires no refrigeration.
HOWEVER:
Corn syrup solids, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or canola oils, sodium caseinate (a milk derivative), dipotassium phosphate, silicon dioxide, mono and diglycerides, artificial colors, lecithin, artificial flavors.
yuck. i use real milk or real cream.

Other Answers:
Yes, they are. They do have milk in them but it is dry milk. Like the carnation powder.

of course they are safe. if they were not the FDA would not let it be allowed.

I have not heard anything that would lead me to believe that they are unsafe. I am sure CoffeeMate would have been sued at least once in this sue happy society if they were dangerous..

Did you know that if you pour the powder Coffee Mate over a flame it ignites!! True story. Now tell me that it's safe.
