Had breast implants??

Question:
I am thinking of getting them.anyone have any advice? I am scared of the pain. Thanks!

Answers:
As a mammographer, I am not a fan of breast implants. As we know, early detection of breast cancer DOES save lives. It is very hard to find an early breast cancer on mammography, even with improved techniques. The implant hides the breast tissue on the film. Please research this aspect of it. If you still decide to have implants, have them put in BEHIND the chest wall. That will allow a bit more breast tissue to be imaged during mammography. Good luck to you and please do your homework!

Here are what some "experts" say. You can go to the links for additional info:

Breast implant interference with imaging breast tissue, with between 22% and 83% of mammographically visualizable breast tissue obscured by breast implants. http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/breastimplants/b-adverse-events.html
In women without implants, mammography detected 67% of cancers. In women with implants, mammography detected 45% of cancers.

Screening mammography missed 55% of breast cancers in women with implants, compared with only 33% among women without implants.

I also have "handled" over a thousand breasts with implants, and I am not at all impressed with their feel. There are very few implants I have touched that feel natural, and this is especially true after about five years.

Other Answers:
natural is better

Why would you? Once you accept yourself as the real you, implants aren't needed.

never had and never will. i love myself the way i am! :-)

see a good plastic surgeon get some advice and go ahead life is short ,go for it, but again ! see one or better two plastic surgeons before you decide, its worth.

keep it real sister girl don't go fake it's not worth all the pain and money and who knows what health problems will pop up later just remember real is better no matter how big or small as they always say more than a mouthful is a waste

Get them. Of course they hurt. Its only for 4 days. But you get drugs and it helps a little. But if you have babies or toddlers you can't pick them up for at least a week.

Do lots of research into the Doctor. Ask around, you'll be surprised how many people have had implants and will share their stories with you. I've had mine for 29 years and have never regretted it. I've breast fed two babies afterwards. It was quite a bit of pain to start with like any surgery but it was well worth. I have regular Mammograms and ultrasounds and everything is fine. Just as long as you've really thought it through and done your research. I say go for it. Just remember .. NO PAIN - NO GAIN..
