how do you know if your foot is broken?

Question:
My foot and ankle are very swollen, and toes, I can't even put my shoe on. I slipped on a toy. I can walk on it but its kinda painful.

Answers:
you CAN walk on a broken foot, but all it will do is rebreak the bone over and over again, causing it to either never heal, or heal improperly..you should go to the emergency room and have them xray it..keeping in mind that some fractures do not show up until the next day when a team goes over them. If not broken, the soft tissue in your foot can be damaged severely, which hurts as much as a break if not more..good luck and i hope the docs help you@

Other Answers:
Try an X-ray!

if you an walk it s probably not broken. if it was it would hurt like heck but you should get it checked out

have to get an xray

If you can't walk on it.

go to the er to have it x-ray my friend had the same that happen to her hers was chipped at the ankle

The symptoms for a broken foot:
* Your foot will be swollen (which is true in your case)
* You will have a shooting pain when you try to walk (do you really feel a severe pain or is it bearable?)

Try to avoid walking. Apply some ointment that would give some relaxation (relaxant) and see whether your pain/swelling subsides after a day or so.
If it subsides, then it is only a sprain. But if it is not, then you really need to see a doctor.
