help? is this normal?
Question:
Answers:
Please listen to the others--you are probably perfectly normal and 13 is just an "average" age for white women. If it really bothers you, talk to a doctor but most likely, you're just months away.
If you're a serious athlete--like training for the Olympics--your periods can be affected but if you're more of a normal high-school basketball/softball player you probably won't mess up your periods by playing sports.
Good luck, Sweetie, and thanks for having the courage to ask this question. A lot of women your age wouldn't.

I was 13 yrs. 10 mos. when I got mine. Hang in there! If you're developing other womanly features (breasts, hips, hair under arms and on crotch), it should come soon.
Puh, I was nearly 14 before I had mine and it was perfectly normal - and I didn't really get breasts until I was 18. The main factor when it comes to the age of puberty is genetics (my mom was the same way agewise), so comparing yourself to your friends isn't a accurate representation of anything.
If you don't have it by sixteen, then there might be something up, but any age up until then is normal. You don't want it, so relish every menses-free minute you have.

Yes, give it some time.13 is just the average age. It will come soon enough.
Don't worry.
Girls all develop at different rates. Some get their periods at 11, others not until 14 or 15.
And if you're a serious athlete, it can stop your period, even in women who are in their 30s and 40s. But chances are you're not doing any of the hard-core athletic training that would cause that.
Really, don't worry. Your visitor will start showing up once a month very soon. Keep some pads or tampons in your locker and purse, and remember this worry with a smile when you're 33 and looking forward to menopause so it'll go away. ;)
It's normal. As long as you're eating and healthy, it's fine. I was almost 14 when I first got mine. Don't judge your body by what your friends are going through. And honestly, enjoy not having it, because in a few years, you'll be like "omg, why did I look forward to this!"
DON'T WORRY! You are 100% normal. The main factor in getting a period is not your age but your weight. When your body reaches a certain weight hormones start your menstrual cycle. As you grow over the next few months your body should get to the size nessecary for periods to begin.
Yes, it's normal (I started mine a month after my 14th bday, though the average age is definitely younger now than it was then.)
If you have very little body fat, that can affect your cycles, which is why serious athletes sometimes don't get their periods.
i didn't get mine until i was nearly out of eighth grade, yes it normal. all girls don't get it at the same time.
Yes, if you're an athlete then you won't get it for a while. Usually people that lay on the couch allllll day get it very soon. You have up to age 16 to get it, so don't freak out unless your 17.
I got my period when I was 13. Don't worry every one is different.
