i remember reading with disgust and abhorence an article in the australian newspaper magazine about an african woman who was circumcised for cultural/religious reasons. it caused her lifelong physical and emotional trauma until she went to the uk as a model, where someone found out and sent her to a surgeon who knew about the practice.

It's not cleaner, that's crazy. What most people don't understand is that the glans is supposed to be an internal organ. The excretions of the penis are normal, designed to lubricate and protect, have a mild antibacterial effect and in general the penis doesn't poison itself. Duh.
The cancer argument. 1 in 100,000 men over 60 get penile cancer. To the stupid doctor above: Do you advocate chopping off 100,000 foreskins to prevent cancer in one old man? You might want to get your breasts removed. Plain stupid.
The hiv argument. The USA has the highest incidence of circumcision in the western world. The USA has the highest incidence of HIV in the western world. If you want to use this as a preventative measure, you deserve all you get.
Let's call it what it is. US people are used to it and therefore do it because they're used to it and they think it looks better. No other reason. Might as well be honest. Personally I'm not into scars. The final question then comes down to this, is it okay to perform cosmetic surgery on a baby?

Male circumcision is nothing like what you describe happening to the females. Generally, men are circumcized as babies, and feel little, if any pain. This is done for sanitary reasons, and has nothing, whatsoever, to do with sexual functions.
I don't know about outlawed but it would have been nice to be asked if I wanted it. I would prefer to be cut but the amount taken is the problem. This practice first started to keep evil little boys from m.asturbating, since as we all know, m.asturbation will be the downfall of society as we know it. I still have enough foreskin to easily jerk it. I have several friends though, that HAVE to use a lube though. A minor circumcision allows for cleanliness and peace of mind through the relaxing practice of jacking it off.
TRAUMA? What trauma? I was circumcised as an infant. I don't remember any pain. I was NOT traumatized in any way. I don't have any flashbacks. I am NOT some kind of pervert because of it. I am NO different from anyone else. You have a choice to have it done or not. BUT NO ONE should be able to DICTATE to the parents that they can or cannot have this done to their child at birth.
This is a very controversial issues cause it concern religion and has been pratice for over centuries.One man meat is another man poison.

ok i get the female circumcision done in Africa because they cut off all of the sexual part responsible for an organism. not to mention they do it with out anesthetics and with out sterilize equipments.
but there is other circumcision for female that cuts of only the top skin part of the clitoris. clitoris is almost like a penis as a sexual organ because it will enlarge when sexually excited. it has this top skin like a penis skin that can be pulled down. this type of female circumcision remove the top skin just like male circumcision is done.

why because it more hygienic. you know under your uncut penis there is this milky white substance that smells funky if you don't wash in there, well circumcised guys don't have that problem. i was circumcised when i was 9, and it was not horror, terror or traumatic.
circumcised guys sometimes enjoy sex better because the exposed head of the penis is very sensitive.
plus some research has shown that circumcised men are less like to get aids.

I understand your concern about cutting out part of the anantomy. Most men do not want any intervention to it. However, the discomfort is minimal with local anesthesia when performed early in infancy. Even later on, it is an office/ only minimally invasive procedure with extremely low complication rate and quick recovery.
The beneficial effects of circumcision have been well established. There is a hygeinic advantage in addition to a lower incidence of penile cancer in circumsized men. Traditionally, Muslim and Jewish boys have been circumcised, but now alot of parents are opting to have this done to their sons because of the health benefits.
Since the anatomy is completely different, the comparison between male and female circumcision can not be made.

Circumcision is the removal of the outer skin covering the head of the penis. It is not right that male circumcision should be outlawed just as it in the case of the girls. It was clearly stated in the Bible that boys should be circumcised. Even our Lord Jesus Christ was so circumcised on the 8th day as was the practice and a command from God. The issue of David Reimer was just unfortunate and the mistake was from the doctors who performed the circumcision. The experiment performed on the boy was inhumane and the doctor should be held responsible for his death. How would a boy not circumcised feel when he is naked among other boys who are circumcised. He would look different and would probably want to know why his penis is different from other boys. If our parents heed to the command that the cicumcision should be done on the 8th days after the birth of the baby, it would not be painful neither would it have any psychological effect on the child. But once he's grown before it is done, then the pains and the psychological effects comes in. I cant imagine myself having a relationship with an uncircumcised guy!
Yes it should, for many reasons. The biggest one is I am not turned on by a circumsised dick and would think twice about letting it be inside me.

A male is circumsized for hygene reasons. When the foreskin is still there, it allows a spot for bacteria and infection to live.ewww!! A woman that is circumsized is cutting out part of her sexuality, her clitoris, this is totally different for the male. They are cutting off extra skin that doesn't prohibit any kind of sexual functioning what so ever. But in female circumsicion, it does cut out part of her sexual organ; the clitoris.
