I started taking Lipitor today. Should I be worried about it?
I am diabetic, and my doc just put me on it, but I hear a lot of stories about how bad it can be? Anyone have any real stories about it and would like to share them? Also, anyone using or heard of Actos?

All medicines have side effects, and EVERY side effect (including HA, Nausea, Vomiting. etc) is required to go into those pamphlets. Just because it is in the pamphlets does not mean you will get it. Doctors do not get paid for prescribing drugs. They get paid for treating paitents as best they can. they may have a preference of one drug over another, but that does not mean they won't prescribe other drugs. If you have a good doctor, he will listen to your concerns and discuss all the various drugs with you. I have heard of Actos - great drug for controlling diabetes.

I'm on Actos and Lipitor both, and have been for 5 years now with no probs at all. You'll probably have to go every 3 months for blood tests just to be sure everything is OK. But I haven't had a problem yet.How long and how often does a woman ovulate?

Have you read the side affect pamphlet? I have found that even if the pharm forgets to give it to me, I INSIST on it. I had my life ruined by a side effect, so check into it. PLEASE?how do you treat deppression without drugs?
My mother was a diabetic, she also was taking Lipitor she had no proble with it. A piece or advice though when you get the prescription filled the pharmacy will give you a information sheet about the medicine informing you of side-effects, adverse reactions what other medicines counter act with the Lipitorlipitor was a nightmare. the body aches are the worst problem my husband encountere,they got progressively worst he was taken off and the side effects took 4 months to abate. his liver function was fine through it all .. oh and for your information we're the white mice for the drug. it's approved but its being pushed unto people who really don't need it ..that was a statement from a doctor at the Cleveland clinic
I read an artical in one of my diabetic magazines that they have found that diabetics put on statins, that is lipitor, live a longer life. Diabetics are known for high LDL levels. That's the bad one. Also, if your put in the hospital, make sure they keep your blood sugars below 200. Anything above that increases your chance of infections, I found out the hard way. That was in the Wallstreet Journal some time back. Good luck

The symptoms may be better than a heart attach. I just started lipitor too.
Considering there are alternatives that have no side effects and have been proven to work as well or better than lipitor I would not be taking it. Just remember doctors get money for prescribing drugs not alternatives.
