How do I treat an inside mouth injury?

Question:
My son's friend was clobbered in the face causing an injury inside his cheek (most likely from his teeth). It hurts him to eat. He has been swishing Listerine in his mouth which seems to ease the pain temporarily, but isn't helping it to heal. Any suggestions? It doesn't need stiches.

Answers:
gargle with lukewarm water with a teaspoon of salt or rub salt on the injury.salt usually heals mouth injuries like when i had braces and got punched,i put some salt on it then a few days later it healed.

Other Answers:
Ice Pack.

rinse with salt water. and breathe in and out of your mouth to allow air to help heal the wound.

Listerine is the best thing I can think of. You may also try gargling salt water.

Suck on a clove or try clove oil.

ok i think if you already went to the doctor and they said it was okay then maybe you should go to the dentist.

try glycerin?

hold a Tylenol in the side of his mouth for a min or so..also don't use Listerine that will only burn more.he could also put ice in is mouth on the wound that should at least numb the pain

ORAL GEL OR THE STUFF THAT STARTS WITH AN A I CAN NOT THINK OF THE NAME GO TO THE PHARMACY THEY WILL HAVE A WHOLE SECTION ON THE MOUTH

If it's a cut inside the mouth. A couple of times a day use a Q-tip and rub benzoil peroxide on it.

Use Benzydamine mouthrinse. Works wonders for about 3-4 hours.

The salt water is good, he can also rinse his mouth with hydrogen peroxide. Mouth sores usually heal fairly quickly, it must be a bad cut.

Get an oral rinse from a dentist. It's like listerine but doesn't taste as strong. It's still not okay to swallow, but it will prepare the area for healing.

Try to put some salt on the injury.

keep it for 30-45 sec.

water - rince- spit

a few times a day for 2-3 days

if no improvement - Doctor !

rinse mouth with salt water ;8oz. water ,1 tablespoon salt
3 x day till it`s healed..[always works ,[salt toughens meat]..

it appears he may need to see a dentist if it persists.he may have suffered a gum or dental injury not simply alleviated by home remedies.good luck

100% pure woodgrain alcohol and a couple thumbtacks should do it

Have him chew food on the side of the mouth that is not injured, the injury will heal over time, and if it doesn't, consult a doctor right away.
