The piercer does it so quick that you dont have time to even think about it. It will get a little sore afterwards, especially the day after, but actually getting it done, doesnt.

I don't have my tongue pierced, but when you get your tongue pierced, you're making a hole in your tongue. Making holes in your body hurts!

The actual piercing doesn't hurt because it takes like two seconds,it's the after effects that hurts. The swelling is very, very annoying far as trying to eat and talk. And if you hit the ring it will feel like you've gone to hell and back again.But all of this clears up completely in about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks.

Why you have to pierce your tongue ? Definitely there will be pain and ulcer; and it may become septic . Taking food drinking liquids may be troublsome.
