I think he should be as tall as he is. Genetics determine heighth, and growth patterns, which vary WIDELY. Just because you are short or tall this year, doens't mean you will be next year.

My son just turned 14 last week, he is 5'5" I would say he grew 3 or 4 inches in the past year, maybe a little more then that. He is about average I would say. Everyone is different though so its really hard to say since theres thousandths of boys out there, hope this helped a little bit at least.

Some boys start growing at the age of 11, others first at 15, so I wouldn´t be afraid, that you are too small. Wait a few years and you´ll be taller than all of the others at your age :-)
