Sore throat for 6 days?

I have had a scratchy sore throat for six days now, the kind you would get right before getting a cold - but no other symptoms have showed up. I have no allergies, a tonsillectomy 10 years ago, and pneumonia last year. Has anyone had a problem like this? I can't find anything on the web.

A sore throat shouldn't be going on for this long. If you have not used any type of medication already to soothe it, one thing you can do is gargle with salt water. It would be best to get to your doctor to see what's going on.

It's possible that it might be a mild case of Strep Throat. Check out http://www.webmd.com and use their symptoms checker. If memory serves me, if you have a sore throat longer than a week you're supposed to see a doctor.

Tajwae hello. Magicman here. Please go ahead and go to the doctor to get checked for the possible strep throat. They need to at least give amoxicillin for that. It's strong enough to treat an infection such as strep.
