Answers:
why, everyone has shingles on top of their houses. Well mostly everyone. I don't see why there would be a problem. There could be esbestos in some older roofs.

Other Answers:
No, of course not, shingles and herpes are 2 different things. My cousin had singles when she was 7, so no u wouldn't test positive for herpes

No..shingles is not a herpes virus.it belongs to the same viral class as chicken pox.

The medical term for shingles is herpes zoster, but its not the std kind of herpes. I just got them months ago, there's nothing to worry about. I had it on my stomach-the left side, just a little area. Its just a reactivation of the chicken pox, the virus is still dormant in your body after the chicken pox go away.

herpies and shingles are 2 diffrent viruses , shingles is a form of chicken pox , but is worse than chicken pox so its best that you stay away from anyone who has not had chicken pox or the varicilla vacination , especially small children and pregnant women

Depends on what you mean by "herpes". When most lay people talk about "herpes", they're talking about the infection caused by the herpes simplex virus. Shingles is also caused by a herpes virus, but it's a herpes zoster virus, and the two types of viruses are quite different, with no cross reactivity between the two. So, no, you won't test positive for herpes (simplex) if all you have is shingles.

you will test positive for varicella zoster

Absolutely not, unless you had herpes and shingles. Herpes Zoster is another name for shingles, however it comes from the varicella (chicken-pox) virus. Herpes simplex is the type of herpes that is an STD and that you could be tested for. The similar names are very confusing. Shingles hurt and can last quite awhile, hope yours goes away quickly.

Different kind, thank goodness. But that does not mean you do not hae herpes. Take care.
