What is the difference between a physican's assistant and a nurse practioner?

is the word musky good/bad?

Answers:
A Nurse Practitioner or ARNP get an undergraduate degree in Nursing, and then attends two years post grad work in a specialized Masters program. A Physician Assistant usually recieves a four year undergraduate degree in biology or chemistry or Pre-med, and then attends a two year masters program. The one big difference is that in many states ARNPs can open their own practices, while PAs cannot.

CDJ. has a wonderful answer. I have had the opportunity to work with both PA's and NP's and find them more than the physician extender they were origionally intended to be. We have had these professionals in the military for many years. I have enjoyed working with these pros.
