Confusion arises with my weight?

Question:
I am just wondering if anyone has any solutions.ideas..anything.. 23, 5'7, and currently my weight is embarressing. I use to be about 155lbs and kept that weight for years.the last three years I feel that I've gained a lot of weight. I just don't understand why. I work out at the gym all the time (5-6 days a week, 2x a day at times), I run @ least 3 miles a week and walk @ least twice that, and I'm a vegetarian. I eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, and so forth.I just don't understand why I am gaining weight.

Answers:
You're at the age where our bodies change. The freshman 40 is probably coming a little late. In addition, your vegetarian diet can be to blame. You've got to make sure you have enough protein and that everything is well balanced. If you're not careful with a veg. diet, you could start loading on carbs and not even realize it. Substitute more whole grains, cheeses (you didn't say vegan) tofu, beans etc. to get more protien.
Eat 5-6 meals per day. Drink ~64 ounces of water. Watch your total calorie consumption. Make sure your workouts include a good amount of weight training to build lean muscle and therefore increase your metabolism.

Good Luck.

it might just be that u gained a lot of muscle weight.which is very good

Do you feel you have gained weight or did you actually gain weight? You gave us a starting figure but not a current figure. From the sounds of it, if you're being honest you should not have a weight gain problem. If you're concerned enough to ask total strangers you should ask your doctor.

The simple fact is that you are taking in more calories than you are using. You mentioned the healthy foods you are eating, but you are probably leaving out some of your habits, or not being truthful about the ones you mentioned.
