Well, it is often a type of internalized rebellion but for me, when I had long hiar it was because I was frustrated with not being able to find a barber that would give me a good haircut given the fact that I have two crowns. Plus, I really wanted to do something different for a while. Now I have a very nice short cut that suits me and my head quite well but I was prompted to get it once I became tired of having long hair (which lasted for three years). It is also nice though, when women give you extra attention, i.e. playing with it, combing it, braiding it, because it is long. I hope that helps.Source(s):
