For shoulder length and longer hair, what brand of shampoo/conditi. do you use and why?

I have a little longer than shoulder length hair with an old perm and I home color with Revlon ColorSilk about every six weeks. I've been using Fructis and Pantene for color treated hair and I always use conditioner, but my hair always seems dry. I also use INFUSIUM23 leave in conditioner. I'd love to have shiny and healthy looking and feeling hair again.

I have several different products that I rotate through. That way I don't get a build up of any one. I like to use Neutrogena's Dandruff shampoo once a week. I also use Nexxus Therappe - it's a moisturizing shampoo - once a week. Then once a week I use a bar shampoo called J.R. Liggett's. It lasts forever and it doesn't strip the natural oils (you need those!). As for conditioner, I use Nexxus Humectress, Infusium23 Revitalizing (not leave in), and Paul Mitchell's The Conditioner (a leave in).

I really like using John Freda's FrizzEase Serum. After shampooing and conditioning, you put it on soaking wet hair (don't rinse it out), then towel dry and style as usual.

One thing to keep in mind about shampoo - just because it foams up nicely doesn't mean it's cleaning. Cheap shampoos (and I'm not talking about price!) use sudsing agents that don't clean you hair, they just make creamy suds. More expensive shampoos may feel like they're not doing anything the first time you wash, but that's because the shampoo is bonding with the excess oil rather than making lather. Also, less expensive shampoos and conditioners are often less expensive because they add more water.

And last, don't wash your hair every day. The best thing for your hair is the natural oil your scalp produces. If you use a lot of styling products, you probably have to wash daily, but if you can get away with it, skip a day.

i wonder, what are the real advantages of being vegetarian?

All you really need, and this has worked for me forever, is to get the 0.99 stuff. Suave, V05, etc. That's all I ever use and I have no problems.

My wife uses all that fancy sht and she always complains about the same stuff.

Is this normal?

Matrix products are awesome and the dont leave the build up that store shelf products (such as pantiene pro-v) leave.

Do you think I'm pretty?

I color my hair often as well and I use Pantene Pro V and once a week I use Neutrogena clarifying shampoo and Neutrogena Deep conditioning Mask.
I would consider my hair to be pretty healthy and shiny.

Are you pretty?

With colored hair it's hard to acheive the silkiness that natural hair has. But I'd say you should use a gentle natural shampoo from your local natural food store.

Those lab-made shampoos with unpronouncable ingredients are created to keep you buying more - they will make your hair feel good right after you wash it, but in the end leave it drier than before!

You can find many natural, non-drying, non-alcohol and lauryl & lauryth-sulfate-based shampoos in a natural food store. It will also help if you wash your hair only every few days.

When I get cold my bones hurt?

It may be a cheaper kind but i find that Suave works best there's no residue left over or anything and i always have healthy, shiny hair after my hair has dried. Pantene and Herbal Essences seem to work good but studies have shown that they leave behind a wax coating, and if you use them for so long you can literally scrape you sclap and get a wax shaving. Its icky. So again Suave is the best way to go, and you don't even have to put in leave in conditioner.
