Pumpkin Accident?
I was carving a pumpkin for halloween last year (2005) and manages to hurt myself. Its a long story and makes me look like a complete idiot.or so a few people told me. I removed a huge piece of skin of my middle finger's knuckle (I don't know if you would call it a knuckle.its the 2nd one from the fingernail). I had to get stitches and indure the nurse teasing me. Well its healed and you can't really tell it's there, and i can move my finger just fine. Now my question is when will the pain stop? If I accidently hit it on something, the pain forces me to the floor. I was told that would be normal but how long does that normally last?

3 to 6 months. if the pain persist after that, its probably infection and you should have it checked.As with all medical questions, why don't you ask your Doctor? You can't really trust that random anonymous people will give you sensible advice on these things. Hope you get better soon :)

I think it's good to get a medical opinion.I hurt a finger messing around with my nefew, it got bent backward (left hand index finger). It was bruised and swollen, and then after 3 - 6 months it was Ok, except it was easily injured.
Now after 5 years there is still a residual soreness, and it is a "weak" point, i.e. easily re-injured.
As a periferial, it is important to have blood flow, so to get it to heal faster I used to flex and squeeze my fist. It helped it heal.
