Are there different types of fat?

Question:
I used to have the flattest stomach of anyone I knew in my teens. Now that I am 24, I have this permanent padding around my waist that is very stubborn. My abs are strong, and I am pretty skinny (125lbs at 5'7' tall), but the stomach will not melt. Is it possible that it's there to stay?

Answers:
You're describing brown fat. The most difficult to get rid of. There's a book that talks all about the various kinds of fat..white, brown. The book is called the Fat Flush Diet. If you decide not to spend your money on the book, then spend it on a ticket for Brokeback Moutnain.. It'll help you forget about being fat for a while. GOod luck.

Other Answers:
It isn't there to stay but it is a different type of fat called cellulite (Maybe spelled wrong) It is fat combined with toxins that takes longer to get rid of. If you eat healthfully for about a week or two (Fruits and Veggies) and eat very little of them + lots of water it will be gone "to stay" (Note: You can usually resume your old way of eating after this week)

yeah .i think soo..i guess so

yah. according to me, there are 2.
the kind that makes a you fat-bodied person, and the kind that makes you a fat-mouthed person.

Oh, no, you have "the pouch"! It's a sad day when that settles in. The belly fat is indeed different from, say, the saddlebags I have enjoyed since I was, oh, FIVE. I wish I could remember the news story I saw on it and send you the link. I have included a link that discusses the increased heart attack risk. We all have a big old sac in our bellies where that fat gets stored, and the more we have there, the faster fat gets into our bloodstream, which makes belly fat more unhealthy than, say, arm flab. In terms of getting rid of fat, fat for the most part is fat, and if you are building up your muscles but you still have a layer of fat on top of them, you're only going to think that you look fatter. Remember when we were teens and we were constantly on the go? We grow up and get jobs and cannot ride our bicycles all day, and we aren't growing anymore, and our metabolism slows down year by year, so life is a series of compromises in terms of the way our bodies respond to the same old treatment. I have always hated my "pooch" but I have dated a lot of men who find the little bulge from the waist down very alluring. Our bodies are always getting wider from gravity and hormones, so life is a constant test to come to terms with things we cannot change. If your hips are widening but you're focusing on your pooch, you may think your pooch is bigger than it really is just because your old pants don't fit anymore. So if it's time to start storing a little fat on your beautiful body, it may make you even more beautiful.

Yes there are different kinds of fat and there are different patterns and purposes for fat distribution on the body. Some fat is easily metabolised to provide for energy stores that are easily mobilized and used up. Other fat cells are very resistant to releasing their energy unless the body detects an emergency- like a prolonged fast. It is not impossible to get rid of the fat that is in those tummy cells, but you may have to create an emergency by using up other more available fat stores first. You have to decide whether it's worth it. Many women who want distinct abs or a very flat stomach discover that their boobs and bottom shrink first and only then does the belly fat begin to go away. The bad news is that the fat comes back in the reverse order. Belly first. It sounds as though your are in great shape. Your weight and your height are a nice combo. Be happy!

Although pop culture tells us that zillions of sit-ups are the way to get a flat stomach.the real way to get it is by being in overall good shape (things like running and swimming should help). Crunches and sit-ups build up your ab muscles, eating right and daily exercise keeps the "flubber" away.

there are good and bad fats though.stay away from trans-fats! (labeled "partially hydrogenated oil" in ingredients).they are very difficult for your body to process and get rid of because they are a foreign sustance to our system

Things like that are commonly genetic. With rigorous workout and healthy eating, you could get it to be flat again, but not like you were when you were a teen. 125 lbs though at 5'7'' is very nice though, nothing to be worried about. According to my college nutrition book, 125 lbs for someone of your height is an extremely healthy weight. Your body mass index (BMI) is only 20 and BMI range usually goes from 19-25 to be considered healthy and you're at the low end. So, just try to stay at what you're at, you dont have to change your eating habits, but if you want to reduce the little fat that is on your stomach, then just exercise on a regular basis while maintaining a health oriented diet.

I think there are different types of fat. There's healthy fat, and unhealthy fat. The exact differences and how to get rid of it.I'm not sure. I would try Yoga or Palaties. That's what I've done after having each of my 3 kids (I'm only 21). So I know how it feels. My "tummy" always slimmed down a lot. But also read up on it.. there's certain times of a month when you should only do the breathing excersizes and medetation. But it helps!

Personal Experience. I Learned about Yoga in a book called "The American Yoga Association's Beginner's Manual" by Alice Christensen.

You should start consuming a gallon of ice cream and at least a 12 pack of beer each day.

That'll fix your stomach.
