does medicad cover gastric bypass surgery if the person is obese?
Question:
Answers:
Yes, Medicaid can cover it, however, the patient has to be willing to maintain a certain lifestyle for 6 months to 1 year to be approved. These changes might include: not drinking any soda pop, no alcohol, etc. Good luck & GOD bless.
Other Answers:
not sure-- I have a friend who's 9 months post-op and she did a lot of research first. Maybe contact your insurance co? If no insurance, maybe contact your doctor--many receptionists are very knowledgeable about insurance. Good luck!!
call medicad and ask them what is covered and they can also find you a doctor if it is covered and the may be able to answer other questions you have.
if the dr says it needed
i am sure if the doctor gives you a referral that they would have to pay for it i am really not sure but i think if i was life threating that they would have to
not sure but it should
I believe they do but you have to be at least 150lbs overweight.
I hate MEDICAID!Most people on it don't desrve it.
If you are covered by Medicaid you should be contacting them with this question. Do it.
my mother-in-law did. she was obese and has deteriorating disk disease in her back and the weight made the condition worse. if it helps other conditions they should. usually you have some medical problems when obese so i am sure if u work with the doctor they will help you get it covered by medicaid. also check on side effects because you may decide this is not for you.
I also hear of a new procedure they are doing in Europe with a balloon in your stomach instead of such evasive surgery. Here are a list of sites you can check out as an alternative.

Good Luck!
not sure but good luck
if you are at least 80-100 lbs over weight you could have it covered by your insurance, it will be hard for you to get your papers sign but is about your health and if you have a good doctor s/he'll tell you how to handle it, go for it is about health, at least here in CA
Nothing to add except to say yes in many cases. Talk to your doctor regarding the risks because occasionally, someone does die from the procedure. Ironically, some people get divorced after this because the woman feels more attractive and the husband gets jealous. Occasionally, the woman becomes a flirt and her world turns upside down.
I don't think so
