how bad is it for patients that are diagnosed with schizophrenea to smoke marajuana?

Question:

Answers:
A lot of schizophrenics smoke pot. It relieves the mania for a bit, however its effects become unpredictable and can aggravate the nervous system countering the desired effect and increasing the paranoia of the patient. All drugs alter the brain chemistry.that's why schizophrenics are on drugs - they need their brain altered. There are better drugs, pharmaceuticals that is, to help the mania. However, it can be frustrating at the lack of progress the medical community has made in the matter of schizophrenic disorders. Unfortunally, it's hard to convince mass numbers of people that they are suffering delusions and paranoia and therefore not a profitable disease to drug companies.

Other Answers:
I going to duck the whole issue of the health risks of pot.

Pot basically works by altering brain chemistry. Illnesses such as schizophrenia are widely thought to be related to disorders of the neurotransmitters in the brain.

So.. A person with schizophrenia who smokes pot is really messing with his/her brain chemistry.

In short, pot & schizophrenia isn't a good mix.
