ok girls, do you ever get this aching in you lower stomach around ovulation time?

Question:
i do every month, and boy does it hurt, my doc assured me it's normal. what do you do to relieve it if you absolutely can't lay down and sleep it off.

Answers:
Yes, it's called mittleschmertz, and is due to the rupture of the follicle to release the egg. In some women this causes a lot of pain, in others they don't even notice it, but it's totally normal. I'd recommend taking painkillers for it, ibuprofen or something similar, and maybe using a hot water bottle or heat pad.

Other Answers:
yes i do, but i also have polycystic ovary syndrome..you may want to ask your dr. about it..I usually slap on a thermacare heat wrap and kick back

I have found that whether for period cramps, or ovulation aches, crunches--sit-ups, do the trick. WHAT!?!? you say, take the very part that is hurting and make it hurt MORE!!?!?! Well, to a certain degree, yes. What you are doing is working the muscles to the point of exhaustion so that they actually RELAX. Just power thru, do a couple reps of 5 or 10 and see what happens. Inhale on the down/back, exhale on the up--it hurts less. Try and you'll be suprised. It really does help things to calm down and relax in that area. Works for me since I was 13!! :)

This is called premenstrual tension or congestion due to water retention. It may be fro only few hours or it may last for up to ten days before the period and is dramatically relieved by the onset of menstrual flow. This is due to harmones which cause the disturbance in the water balance in body. Restrict salt intake and in addition if only required a diuretic can be used. For the pain if you cant tolerate simple analgesic like paracetamol can be used.
