Panic attacks are not dangerous, but people think they are going to pass out or something.
Panic attacks affect you physically, you can get panicked, have problems breathing, etc. Anxiety I believe is just stress, unless you are talking about an anxiety attack.
When you have a panic attack you are breathing heavier and
your mind is wandering "what ifs". When you have Anxiety,
you are more focused on what needs to be done, but have trouble concentrating on and doing what needs to get done.

I suffered from panic or anxiety attacks for years, one day they just turned up, i did nothing out of the ordinary to induce one, it just arrived. To answer your question about 'are they dangerous'? I used to get them when i was overtaking traffic at high speed (the highway speed limit) and on more than one occasion i thought that i was going to put my car under the wheels of a dirty big truck. I would suffer panic attacks in supermarkets (usually near florescent lights), While driving, being in a strange area, meeting someone new, pretty much all of the time. It got to the stage that i would avoid going outside and for a while i became a prisoner in my own house. I used to get the feeling that i wanted to throw up and i knew a girl that also suffered, she would stick her fingers down her throat just to get rid of the feeling!! No one knows for sure what causes panic attacks, they just turn up and usually go away all by themselves. It took about 15 years before my panic attacks 'lessened', i still get them sometimes, but nowhere near as bad as i used to. If it is any help to you, you should avoid going near to florescent lights, as i found that these caused me to have major panic attacks. I wish you the very best of luck with your problem and try not to get depressed with them, THEY WILL eventually go away, it is just a question of time. Sorry.

I can really empathize with this.I've dealt with this problem starting when I was a kid & now I'm old enough to join AARP! It is not dangerous physicaly,but it can sure make your life miserable.The fear-intense-,the pounding heart,sweating,wanting to run away,feeling you will die.Yikes!However,you don't just have to "live"with it.There are effective therepies,such as medications,counseling,group support,etc.Please don't just keep trying to "deal" with it if this is you or someone you care about.Best Wishes!
