is "Sun In" bad for your hair?
Question:
But a hair stylest said that if I try to dye all my hair it could turn BLUE?!?!?!?
Answers:
Sun In is bad for your hair. It is too harsh!! It turns your hair to MUSH especially if over used. The only way to use it so it makes the hair blond is to use a lot of it. This in turn will make it mush by the time you get to your proper stage of color. If your hair is brown and you want it blond you have to think of all the colors it takes to get there. Brown to Red, Red to Orange, Orange to Yellow, Yellow to Pale Yellow to Blond. Sooo it stands to reason that you have to keep applying to get to that Pale Yellow or Blond stage you are looking for. Which in turn makes the hair feel "mushy". I am a licensed Cosmetologist and have seen this many many times. I just don't think it is a good product at all.

I have heard of blonde hair turning green from swimming pools but never Sun In turning hair blue.
yes yes yes yes ok if you put sun in on your hair and then go to get a color or a perm it will damage you hair greatly. I'm a stylist.
it is bad because it is actually like a bleach and that dries your hair out really bad. i would try something else on your hair like highlights or something. nothing is worse than horse hair
i pretty sure it's good for your hair. i always thought it made your hair lighter:)
Thats funny you say that. i just saw that in a magazine and thought it look pretty natural so i was tempted to buy it but i have heard its not good. but i have never heard of the blue theory. lol
do not use it!! i used it all the time in high school and it eventually turned my hair bright orange. i haven't heard about the blue, though.
It is like any other chemical you put on your hair. It depends on how much you use it. The more you use it, the more it's going to damage your hair. And it depends on how well you care for your hair, conditioning, using heat styling etc. Heat styling everyday can seriously damage your hair. Also how much time do you spend in the sun. Sun is hard on your hair as well.
I used Sun In in high school to lighten my hair. I didn't use it all the time. I just did it 3 or 4 times to get it as light as I wanted it and then left it alone. Maybe a bit of a touch up here and there. My hair was fine. Everyone always told me how pretty my hair was.
After high school however, I started dying my hair. Plus I was a constant heat styler. And I never really deep conditioned my hair and now it's not what it used to be. It's not as shiny and not as managable.
So if you use Sun In, don't use it all the time. And if you just have to heat style everyday, make sure you condition, condition, condition.
I've used it with great results. It probably depends on how your hair reacts to it.
