Get a prescription from a doctor.
What medications are you currently taking? Most prescription arthritis meds take a few days to build up to an effective level. Ibuprofen has always done well for me on normal days (my arthritis is not horribly advanced), when I need a faster kick I take Excedrin. The caffeine in Excedrin speeds up the dirpersion of the pain killer/anti-inflammatory. Can make you a bit edgy if your not accustomed to caffiene however.
You dont say where you are hurting, and this may sound silly, but a lot of people in my family suffer from arthritis, and they swear Emu Oil.has been a God send.
It wouldnt hurt to give it a try,my sisters swear by it.
This is something u need to discuss with ur doctor. If you are able to take NSAIDs( non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), taking something like ibuprofen or aleve on a regular basis will help tremendously and are not addictive. There are days when u may need something a bit stronger. You physician should be able to prescribe something that u could take on an "as needed" basis.
Glucosamine, if you can find a good one.
