I wonder why you are asking this question.

For starters the child has to have direct exposure to HIV for transmission to occur, that is, transfer of an infected person who has a very high cell count of HIV virus, to the child. via blood transfer.. or potentially breast milk (although transmission like this is remote as the gut destroys the virus).

If you have any concerns that a child may have been exposed then a simple blood test will give you the answer, recognising though that there is a time lag between exposure and contraction of the disease.

Symptoms of HIV during the seroconversion phase include flu like symptoms. headaches, malaise, runny nose, irritable. And these symptoms can be any that a child will have growing up.

Go and get a blood test if you are concerned. Then they will repeat the blood test again in three months if exposure has been recent.
