Grown women with stuffed animals (esp Tigger) = Mental illness. What do you think?
Question:
Answers:
I don't have any myself but I love Tigger.and Winnie the Pooh. It could be because I have a 2 and a 5 year old and it gets drilled into my head everyday. My favorite though was always Garfield. My children have even confiscated those! Many "normal" women own them also.
You do probably realize though.. if you've read up on it, many women with BPD were abused as children in some way hence that need for comfort.some get it with food, some with drugs or alcohol, some end up in the sex industry and some will just shop. a lot!!
. AND then there are those that just wanna HUG something that wont hurt them in return!!
Also BPD doesn't have to be a life long illness..it can be overcome.the person has to have a strong will though to do so.

It may not be exact. Some mental patients tend to become child-like and get attached to toys.
actually we just like to have the occasional intelligent conversation with a male..hence the stuffed animal.
I've had 2 roommates who sleep with stuffed animals. 1 was for security [instead of hugging a pillow] and one was so that she would squeeze the stuffed animal instead of her husband while she slept. For the latter, think of Lenny from Of Mice and Men.
But no, neither one of them are crazy.
I have a teddy bear that I've had for 20 years and I'm not mentally ill. Sure, I have some emotional problems, but who doesn't?
I think its fine, and its probably just a coincidence.
I would hope so anyway cause' I have many stuffies!
It is quite a leap to assume that any adult who enjoys stuffed animals is mentally ill.
However, it would tend to make sense that individuals who are needing comfort would select a stuffed animal as a comfort object. There is no harm in that. Better a stuffed animal than a bottle of liquor, right?
Take care.
Well Tigger is as queer as a $3 bill, so maybe it is a f@g hag attraction. I have noticed a correlation with breaks and Pooh characters in general. But I'm not going to try to publish on that little fluke.
lol, so many qualified doctors on here, it's unbelievable. Why does there have to be a personality disorder or a mental health issue attached to everything? Maybe some of us just like the comfort we get from a teddy or a Tigger? Maybe it's a memory from childhood, when you had a tough day at school and your best friend went off with your worst enemy, that you could rely on old Tigger when you got home to listen to you unconditionally, to not say stupid things, to not make you feel worse and to just be there?
no i would say its like a comfort zone more than anything else, especialy if you dont have a husband to hold on to at night some times it just makes people more comfortable.
They're no more borderline personality disorder than you. The difference is they're not afraid to express themselves. Probably a lot saner for doing so!
That's BS. I think it's ok to still own a stuffed animal when you're an adult. If you're emotionally attached to it, though.that's not healthy. But, I'll admit, I do have a stuffed animal on my bed.
