Who is with me? Psychiatrists are bad?

Question:
I think they are bad because they rely on Medication too much. It does not take care of it just hides it for a bit plus some of those medications can hurt people! Also they are turning differences into diseases! I think they are wrong and will never see one again! Who is with me? Any experiences? Thank you for your time and enjoy your points!

Answers:

without the meds, the people seing the phyc would hurt people.

hell ya they r bad

You have not met the right psychiatrist to deal with your specific needs. All people are different and react differently to drugs. Some do tend to overprescribe, but there are others who do not. The correct diagnosis, coupled with the correct medication can make miracles in a persons life. Unfortunately, there is sometimes trial and error, but you have to be patient. A genuine mental illness should never be ignored however

WEnt to school for PSychology. I do not practice.

I think in general, you are right. most of them are very happy to give you a drug, and nowadays they have a name and a pill for almost any known "condition".
On the other hand those drugs do help people who need it.

'Specially the ones in "C" ward up on the third floor.

I don't believe that all Psychiatrists are bad. A lot have helped people straighten out their lives. While some doctors may use pills a little too freely, some people actually need these pills. In order to understand we have to live the lives of mentally ill people that find it painful to even wake up in the morning. SOme hear voices that tell them to destroy themselves, some self medicate with street drugs and alcohol to stop the voices. Mental illness is every bit as important to treat as physical illnesses. There are many types of pain in this world.Physical is just one of them.

On average the phych. has best intentions in mind. Sometimes the psych. does not have the experience to handle a certain patient's needs and can prescribe meds to watch the reaction. I Know it sounds horible but sometimes it is the only way to get to the heart of the issue. If a person can not talk to you and meds calm that individual so that they are able to function, so be it.I agree with the part of never seeing one again.(I dated a psychiatrist for many years, and I think sometimes they are in the wrong chair.)Oh, you meant consult one again.
