Has any1 used the following exercise machines/tools and do they work?

Question:
I've been thinking about purchasing some type of inexpensive ab machine/apparatus/tool to help me shape up my abs/obliques and midsection. What can you tell me about any of the late-nite info mercials on the following products (do they work, cost, reliability):

6-Second Abs, Ab-Roller, Ab-Scissors, Ab-Lounge..or anything else you may have heard of that might work quickly and efficiently..

Answers:
I bought the ab lounger and it does work. I have problems with crunches or sit up because of my lower back. The ab lounger does not hurt my back and allows me to work out and still get the end results that I want. But don't belive that it can happen in just a few days. start off slow and build up. after 6 weeks of using it every 2-3 days I have noticed a difference.

My mother swears by ab lounger.

Save your money and stay away from any and all AB machines if your interested in showing off a six pack.

Here's an overview on how to effectively work-out your abs without any machines:

For the upper abs, focus on crunches which effectively work the abdominals better than sit-ups or any machine on the market.

For the lower abs, keep in mind there is very little muscle tissue there so decreasing levels of body fat is the most effective way to bring out the best in this area.

Regarding exercises for the lower abs, you need to try and disengage your hip flexors (psoas muscles) as much as possible so that they don't override any efforts to contract your abs. That's why it's very important to never anchor your feet under any fixed device when doing situps.

Hanging leg raises, v-situps and reverse curls are among some of the best exercise for this region.
Always make sure your pelvis curls up to maximize lower abdominal contraction during these exercises.

Remember that there's no point in developing great abs without losing enough bodyfat to show them off. Ensure your diet is clean, free of high-fat, sugary and processed foods with plenty of veggies. To burn fat you need to increase heat. Cardio, cardio, cardio.at least 3-4 times a week (30-40min) within your target heart rate. Stick to exercises that make you sweat (stay away from swimming for fat loss).

Also here's a tool to help you evaluate your stength in this region compared to the population average (note: only anchor your feet for testing purposes only and not during your workouts)

I would advise to seek the advice of a personal trainer for proper execution and intensity resistance and cardiovascular exercises, especially if you are a beginner.

Ab machines are just ways to get money from you.

There are literally dozens of variations of the basic crunch that will do wonders for your abdominals, and they're all free.

Just get a good quality foam pad to lay on.
