bells palsy..anyone know what it is?

Question:
bells palsy, has anyone ever had it.what r the symptoms. can u die from it?

Answers:
THE SYMPTOMS OF BELL'S PALSY progress Very quickly. Most people either wake up to find they have Bells palsy, or have symptoms such as a dry eye or tingling around their lips that progress to classic Bell's palsy during that same day. Occasionally symptoms may take a few days to be recognizable as Bells palsy. The degree of paralysis should peak within several days of onset - never in longer than 2 weeks .

Other Answers:
Bells palsy is a weakness of the nerve that supplies the muscles of facial expression on one half of the face (right or left). I have a very good friend who has Bells palsy and she will never die from this condition. The outcome varies in people who have had this. Approximately 60% to 80% of cases resolve completely within a few weeks to months. Some cases result in permanent changes. The disorder is not a threat to life.

Below is a site with lots more info on Bells palsy. Hope that helps.

My friend john had it a while back, basically the whole left side of his face was paralyzed. You cant die from it, but it may be permanent.

Bell's palsy can occur for several reasons, though most often the cause is unknown. It usually involves paralysis of one half of the face (though both sides are rarely effected). If the cause is due to injury (car accident injures the nerve), often times the doctor can fix the problem. For unknown causes, it's best to wait and see. There is nothing that can be done if the source of injury is unknown.
