I was wondering how much of a discount Mary Kay Rep's get.

I hate when people never really answer the question, but I guess I'm really doing this in order to save YOU a headache in the long run. I have lots of ex-Mary-Kay-er friends (who most claim-not all but most-that Mary Kay is a cult centered around signing other people up and making them buy products up front "so you can sell them easier") and they have come to Avon with eyes wide open - they are surprised to find out they can make so much on products sold - up to 50% profit - pretty damn good, if you ask me. Anyway, whoever the Mary Kay lady is hounding you (if she isn't hounding you now, she soon will), tell her DIRECTLY that you have DEFINITELY decided not to go with Mary Kay. If you are skeptical of where I'm coming from, then do your research. Look up "Mary Kay cult" on Yahoo or Google or just simply look up Avon. The opportunity is real and I can honestly say that I do make a nice little pocket of change every 2 weeks (not to mention my neccessities like soap, shampoo, deo for half off - MUCH cheaper than Wal-mart after discount) so..anyway, hope I was some help. You can email me if you are interested in Avon after you research some. I'm sure you'll come to a sensible solution.

Not much ~ it was a very pushy business and I found that the unit leader was always trying to have you keep hundreds of dollars in stock even before you had a market for the stuff.

I would sooner sell Creative Memories or Tastefully Simple than Mary Kay

Mary Kay is a bit of pryamid type business. You make more money if people sign up below you. There products are nice, however very expensive making it difficult to sell to most consumers in this economy. If you are young and want to sell products I suggest looking at a less costly product. Mary Kay is great, but not highly profitable (if you don't get people signed up under you) and the products are just too expensive for the younger generation.

I am a Mary Kay consultant and have been since 1992. I have had two directors. My first director and I were not a match. My director now is wonderful and would do anything for anyone. She has been my mother. She is not my mother though. She is one of the wisest women I have ever known. She is also one of the best examples of a Christian woman I have ever known.

To answer your question. There is a 100% profit. You order a product directly from the company at $10.00 retail. You pay only $5.00 wholesale for the item. So, there is a 100% profit from the wholesale viewpoint and a 50% profit from the retail viewpoint.

The real profit though is building your customer base and reselling the same products over and over again for YEARS. You will get paid for the time spent with your customer for years to come. You can't do that working at Walmart.

You also get major tax benefits.
