Try drinking warm milk with honey. heat it for about two minutes in a microwave and stir. Warm milk is naturally soporific.
I smoke pot to get to sleep, but I guess you could exercise. Blowing a load makes me tired. watching a movie in bed makes me tired too.
I know it *looks* like a stupid answer, but "relieving" ones self is a pretty quick answer to it, for a lot of people.
Now I'm blushing. :( But it's true!

I strongly recommend that you take a "tryptophan" supplement. This amino acid is essential for quality sleep. It may make you feel tired, but this feeling does not last more than an hour or two. Also, you need to see a physician or psychiatrist to help you deal with stress. I don't know why you are p'd off, but to be that angry is unhealthy and is usually the result of other stress.
RELAX. I like meditation. You could burn an insencse and play some music, maybe smoke a fatty. that should help you relax and get some zzzs.
drink warm milk.. or stay in d tub 4 20 mins.. it'll relax u 2d point that it'll make u sleep soundly..

General Guidelines for Meditation
Put your expectations aside, and don't worry about doing it right. There are infinite possibilities and no fixed criterion for determining right meditation. There are, however, a few things to avoid.

Trying to force something to happen.
Over-analyzing the meditation.
Trying to make your mind blank or chase thoughts away.
Putting too much emphasis on doing it right.
It's not necessary - or advisable - to meditate on a completely empty stomach. If you're hungry, have a little something to eat before meditating.
Find a quiet, comfortable place to meditate. You can sit in a comfortable chair, on the bed, on the floor. anywhere that's comfortable. It's not necessary to sit cross-legged. Your legs can be in any position that is comfortable.
Eliminate as much noise and as many potential distractions as possible. Don't worry about those things that you can not control.
When you sit to meditate, sit comfortably, with your spine reasonably straight. This allows the spiritual energy to flow freely up the spine, which is an important aspect of meditation. Leaning against a chair back, a wall, headboard, etc. is perfectly all right. If, for physical reasons, you can't sit up, lay flat on your back.
Place your hands in any position that is comfortable.
If it does not go against your beliefs, call on a "higher source" for assistance in your meditation. Any form is all right. This can be quite helpful, but is not absolutely necessary.

You need to do whatever relaxes you. S*x, exercise, meditation. Whatever clears your mind. You'll never go to sleep with your mind racing!
try camomile herb tea (not sure of the spelling) before going to sleep. or,i dont know what kind of pils you tried. take gravol (dimenhydrinate) or benadryl (Diphenhydramine). the side effects of those pill is to sleep. those, you can have it without prescription. I usually use benadryl when I work night shift in hospital.
you are suffering from sleep depression. Imsonia. If you see a doctor they will prescribe you pills that get you to the sleeping mood. Do something that make you feel super tired and fatigue. That way you will be unable to control your body and you will be so tired and fell asleep.
I read a book. It calms my busy mind. Some attest to warm milk. The problem with alcohol is that you can become dependent on it but a beer might help. Wine and hard liquor used to get me hyper.

YOU can count sheep until u reach 100, heck if that dont work then do something so bold.like count to 200! there u go..or you can drink a jug of warm milk..and u will feel as if u were shot with a bear tranquilizer..lol. or u can relieve yourself like the other people are saying..or u can relax,listen to soothing music..u know what listen to a lullaby, if u dare..ummm. u can read and completly boring, useless book..like a journal or etc. or i can talk on and on and u eventually fall asleep.ummmm..or watch a boring talk show like um OPRAH and maybe just maybe she will give u a free car!! OMG lol. Anyways i am getting sleepy.YAWNS.U are getting very very sleepy, so sleepy that u will go to sleep.and poof ure asleep..well then if that cool trick didnt work or if any of my suggestions didnt work well then i dont know what to do now.I cant help ya buddy. good night and i hope all is well..

i think the best way is to read areally boring book like a maths textbook or the newspaper nd try to understand it i m sure u will end up with a big YAWN ths really works for me

Like you i dont take the sleeping pills that were prescribed either. I done some research and found something that works for me occasionally.
Lay in your bed and concentrate on your breathing---put everything else out of your mind and just listen to yourself breath. You have to breath pretty loud. You might think your going to hyperventilate but your not. This works for me sometimes!!
