Conclusive research has shown that the brain can process and retain more information if you study in short bursts right before you sleep. For instance: read a chapter of a history book directly before going to sleep, and your brain processes and stores the information more readily and easily while you sleep.

To keep the blood in your brain flowing, doing simple but repetitive mental tasks such as reading aloud or solving simple math problems in quick succession keeps your brain "on it's feet", so to speak. For instance, try solving the following math problems in rapid succession (Note that this only works if you try to answer them as quickly as possible: taking your time on each question makes this exercise completely useless):
