Does cold temperatures affect knee replacements?


Question:
I had a TKA in 2001, due to infection they had to replace the knee replacement again in 2003, lately I have had severe pain in my replaced knee, I have to work outside periodically in cold temperatures, hey I live in Canada, and I am wondering if the cold weather is the cause?

It can, especially if your new knee is titanium or some other metal.

It could be arthritisis(sp?) had mine replaced and great during summer but hurts bad in winter or if it's going to rain

yes cold weather can caues pain due to the metal knee. the weather causes it to swell some what and that is what might be causing you pain, but you should talk to your doc because it still might be somthing different alltogether.
