State of Maine Law says about doctors withholding narcodic pain meds after a pain specialist says u need?

Question:
I have gone to 2 pain specialist for my back, which I won't get in detail of all thats wrong with me. But both of them told my doctor I needed to be on my pain med which where oxycone not oyxycoton, but codon. and she refuses to give them to me because I'm a recovering alcoholic of 9 years. I was on them for 5 months and doing well then she took me off them, I'm in pain 24/7 and don't know what I should do.

Answers:
I don't know the full scope of your back condition. But I would recommend a non-medication approach. Try Chiropractic or Acupuncture. Both are great a relieving even long-standing back pain (depending on what is wrong with you, of course).

Sorry, I know this doesn't really answer your specific question, but I hope it offers some healtier alternatives. Good luck!

Other Answers:
If the specialists are physicans they should be able to prescribe a painkiller for you regardless of what your primary care provider says. Or am I just not understanding your question?

Now, don't throw something at me. Try to see this from your physican's point of view. Is it possible the pain meds have done all they can do for you, especially after 5 months, and you're now addicted to them? Could that be why you're in pain?

Have you looked at non-medical ways to deal with your pain? There are a lot of options out there.
