Why does leg hair grow faster when it is cold?

Question:

Answers:
Because you get goosebumps more often and this seems to make the hairs grow faster. I'm just guessing, that's what it seems like to me!

Other Answers:
It doesn't actually grow faster when you are cold. But, you get goose flesh. Which makes it seem like it grows faster when it is cold.

I have no idea but its insane! I swear it grows like 5 times faster when its cold. Just ask my fiance :))

When it's cold, your body senses it and the purpose of hair is to keep the body heat in. The more hair you have, the warmer you'll stay! ((( Just don't let it get away on you :-) )))

I don't know if it does but if it does it would make sense. Body hair was meant to keep us warm and keep the direct sun off our skin. But I think it actually grows faster in the summer when the sun is on them and there is more vitamin D available.

I think common sense would say yes. Just like we have more hair in areas that need protection from the cold (genitals, arm pits, head) our body would increase leg hair production. But, we might just notice longer leg hair in the winter because without wearing all those cute dresses and shorts (thus-less of a need to shave) I think us ladies are all guilty of letting it get out of control down there!!
Then there is also the hormone aspect of it. With less sun in the winter (ever heard of seasonal depression-without the sun hormone/chemicals in our systems do change levels) possibly that kicks our hair into over drive?
