My nine year old son loves chewing gum, but always swallows it. Is that bad for him?

Question:

Answers:
Actually it can be bad for him depending on how much he swallows-I had a friend who had to have the build up of gum removed from her stomach baecause it was causing a blockage-not a fun thing to have done!

Other Answers:
not really, it'll just take aproximatly 7 years to digest. it won't really affect him.

not at all

I always swallowed mine when I was a kid and i'm still alive :)

I don't think it's bad for him but he should stop anyways. It takes a long time to digest. It will be a habit for him to swallow his gum. If you don't have a problem with it i guess it's okay.sorta.

Just remember that gum is not usually made with natural gum anymore. Most of it is now made artificially. (like plastic) It is closer to the rubber eraser on your pencil than anything which you can call 'food'. All things will pass, but then, why swallow something you know isn't food? Maybe he would like some marbles, instead..?

no.it wouldn't aaffect him.sometimes i swallow it and it never hurts me!

I have been told before that it wasn't that big a deal. Check out the answer someone else gave to a similar question.
