Sorry, I'm being holistic:)

Valerian root is helpful to some people. Be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist first, as some medical conditions can be made worse by taking valerian, and there are interactions with some other medicines. In particular, do not take it with alcohol or other sedatives. As with any drug, seek the advice of a medical professional before you begin this treatment.

Try St. John's Wort.

The best thing for anxiety is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). See a counselor, psychologist or pick up one of those self-help books. They are often helpful. Good luck!

All good answers above, and exercise is sooooo helpful- (i know from experience)

(none of the following actually involving counters though)

Also ~

Taking warm baths and showers

Massages (i'm a massage therapist and my clients sometimes report remarkle results in improved relaxation long after the actual massage)

Meditation (part of which could be following your breath) ~ If i do that i like lighting some candles, maybe burning incense , maybe reading or saying something out loud that focuses my attention on something good or helps me relax prior to going into meditation, etc.

Humor ~ that's a big one

Streamlining your life to eliminate sources of anxiety (easier said than done, I know)

Having good friends.

Observing anxiety as it appears and doing whatever you can do in the moment that might help it to dissipate (any of the above etc)

try one of these herbs:
Skullcap: infusion
Valerian: tincture
Withania: decoction
any one should help, need more info, email me
