yeh, im an insomniac. But whenever i work out before bed then take a hot shower i go to bed quick.

take a small leisure walk and have a glass of warm milk 20 min before going to bed.this helped me overcome insomnia.if it doesnt work for u then u must consult a doctor

Ambien! Dont go for the Lunesta that stuff leaves a rank taste in your mouth that will last for days. I took 2 and a week later I could still taste that stuff. If you do not have a doctor that will knock you out at night, try Nyquil or Benydril. If that dosent work lay off of the soda's and smokes about 4 hours before you try n go nite nite!

don't take afternoon naps,
take a warm shower before going to bed,
don't go to bed hungry,
make sure the room is dark,
have the radio on on low volume,(it works for me)
make sure the room temperature is comfortable,
always sleep at the same time each night.

there's actually no medicine to cure insomnia. insomnia is subjective. if you feel/think that you have insomnia and you couldn't sleep, then you will really have a hard time sleeping.

sleeping pills could induce sleep but not actually CURE insomnia. just relax when trying to sleep.

i do this when i couldn't sleep: i just lie in my bed and keep still in just one position. minutes later i'm asleep.

There are many things you should do in order to get serious and lasting relief from insomnia.

1. No TV in the bedroom. At all! Especially American TV which uses more than others subliminal scene change rhythm, which gets you glued to it. You may feel like it relaxes you, but it actually just hooks you up, getting you exhausted. You know how sometimes is hard to sleep when you are exhausted.

2. Just like TV, anything else that can generate either energy drainage or excitment should be kept for early evening hours.

3. Americans have the worst eating habits of all: the main meal is at night time - dinner. Your night time meal should be light. yet, never go to bed hungry, as your body will not enjoy restful sleep.

4. Try to think of falling asleep as bringing your heart beat to calm after exercise. You need to create a situation that allows your brain to work less and less to prepare for sleeping. The evening hours should not be used to take care of stressful issues such as bills, the next day tasks, etc. You cannot resolve the tasks of tomorrow before sleeping.
Never ever go to bed without settling an argument or a fight with your significant other!

5. This is not for everyone, but if insomnia is really a problem, is certainly worth doing it: Yoga and meditation. It works wonders not only for your sleep but also for life and health in general. It is a mid to long term process though. Don't give it up.

6. Try and balance your life as a whole. Everything is connected. One major element of this balance is a healthy, fulfilling sexual life, even if you don't have a significant other. If that is the case, either manage it on your own or use Yoga and meditation to redirect the sexual energy.
The sexual energy is the same of your vital energy. It is natural, and very important. Energy that is not utilized or redirected will certainly prevent you from sleeping, at least on the long run.

7. Make sure your room is clean, air included. A harmonious environment is paramount for relaxation, hence sleeping. So take more care of your bedroom than of the living room. Your guests come after you and your rest. If necessary, install light and sound barriers. If you are too sensitive to noises, try using a background noise source (either from a CD or a quiet A.C. That can help minimize your perception of sudden noises.

8. After you incorporate these concepts in your life, try not to ever again think "Am I going to be able to sleep?". Don't question it, don't think about it. Jyst go about your life, ease your rhythm into relaxation, and I am sure you will sleep like a baby.
