Answers:
TMJ stands for temperomandibular joint. and TMD is tempromandibular joint disfunction. it is usually used interchangeably by common people. your TMJ is the joint that moves when you open and close your mouth. when your teeth are in malocclusion, it means that it is not closing in the right way. either your teeth are meeting up in the wrong way or possibly the dentist gave you a filling that was getting in the way of normal chewing and biting. this causes strain on the joint which can cause pain, swelling, clicking.various other problems which are generically termed TMD.

Are you in dental school and taking a test?

This is a very strangely worded question for someone who is just curious. The first answer is very good, I wonder if they are a dentist, maybe an assistant for a very long time.
