every body is programmed or accustomed to going to sleep every night ,and usually at the same time,
and habit tells them that they need 8 hours sleep .
if that scedule is interupted they get worried that they have been deprived of their alloted sleep time.
Man in Nature as a hunter was more like an Animal they hunted day and night ,ate slept around for a couple of days and then off again prowling around being awake sometime for long periods ,and being aware of preditors, catching sleep when it was possible.
in fact we only need about 3 hours sleep a day.
many people would be bored and do not know what to do with their time ,and sleep takes care of that,
and so people lose half their lives in bed
my father slept four hours a night and took a 20 min catnap during the day to refresh.he worked the rest of the time.
i sleep every other day usualy in the morning from 6 until noon.and some times a siesta in the late after noon if i am tired.rarely sleep in the night .because it is quiet,and cool.
a lot of people ,especially when they get older get worried when they cant sleep at night and they take sleeping pills and all kinds of remedies or go to the doktor because they think that there is something wrong with them
they must have their alloted time of sleep otherwise they go crazy.The simple fact is that they do not need to sleep
they should be gratefull that now they have more time to do things,like study and read or work on a hobby or get ahead with their office work.
its only the habit which says that they must have the sleep.
growing children and teenagers need a lot of sleep because they are develloping,but the older you get the less you need to sleep.
many old man are sleepless at night ,but like to take catnaps,siestas or doze in the day time.
so if you cant sleep be happy that your life now is bigger and find something to do.
and if you want to stay awake with out stimulants you must break that habitual cycle you have to force your self through it ,when you feel very tired and you want to stay awake ,walk around ,and go in the fresh air ,put on some music ,and often the inicial tiredness will disapear and you are wide awake again ,

you could take uppers ,some kind of amphetamines ,like the one you get in slimming pils.
but they are realy not good for you and in the end your health can suffer .
if it is for a few times .its ok ,but not to be recomended on a regular basis.
and after the pils wear off you catch up on all of the sleep time that you missed out on.
