The same thing happens to me-also when I eat raisin bran and doughnuts. I think it's mainly because of the sugar.

Oatmeal obviously disagrees with your system.
Also what type of Oatmeal? (As in Brand)

This is a difficult question to answer because one would typically need more details to assess the situation. First, just "how much" oatmeal are you eating? An overindulgence of any type of food could cause indigestion. Also, are you putting anything in your oatmeal, like milk or fruit? Something other than the oatmeal could be the culprit. But the reason I'm responding to this question is because of a more serious potential problem. It could be more than just common indigestion.

Years ago I started getting bad indigestion from eating foods that normally did not give me indigestion. I went to the doctor and found out I had a hiatal hernia. That's basically when part your stomach protrudes into your chest cavity. One result of this problem is that it can block off the food you swallow from the gastric juices (acid) being produced to digest the food.

My problems were compounded by headaches, constipation, hemorrhoids and vomiting. As it turned out all of these symptoms were being caused by the hiatal hernia. What was interesting about my particular problem was that I mentioned these symptoms to my chiropractor and she did an adjustment on me which cured all my symptoms literally overnight.

If you think you may have some of those other symptoms like I did then maybe you should visit your doctor and chiropractor and have it checked out.

Good luck.
