How can I use a deshumidifier?

Question:
Is it bad to use it for a long time in my bedroom?
How much time do I have to use it?

Answers:
You can use a dehumidifier as much as you like, though I don't know why you would feel the need to use it constantly. Do you have a congestion problem or chronic sinus issues? Basically it is not much different than running an in-window air condition unit: when air cools it looses it's ability to hold moisture (which why your glass filled with cold water on a hot day sweats). Dehumidifiers work by cooling the air and then running the air back over hot wire coils in the machine; it takes out the moisture then heats the air back to room temperature, whereas the air conditioner just keeps it cold.

Really the only side-effects you MAY experience would be an extremely dry nose (which can lead to frequent nosebleeds). Even then, it is impossible to completely take all the moisture out of the air in any space in our house, unless we live in a vaccuum sealed bubble!

Other Answers:
To use the dehumidifier selection guide below, first identify the room in your home that needs dehumidification. Next, find that room in the guide below and write down the water-removal capacity needed (measured in "pints"). Now you can search for a dehumidifier that has that same pint water-removal capacity.

Use it as long as you feel comfortable and turn it off when the air starts to feel too dry.
