Do you think tobacco should be illegal like marijuana?
Question:
Answers:
Making it illegal will make the dealers rich. We should educate the public more effectively on the adverse effects of tobacco use.
Other Answers:
yes it kills people
No to be honest i think marijuana should be legalized and taxed just like tobacco and alcohol. I don't use marijuana but know cancer and liver disease patients that have used it for medical purposes and it helped relieve alot of their pain.
I think they should trade places. Tobacco be illegal and marijuana be legal. The same amount of people smoke it anyway.
Tobacco isn't bad. Marijuana isn't bad. Legalize both. Outlaw alcohol, it costs the public ten times as much as tobacco in health care.
Are you out of your bloody mind? Why not ban junk food and fast food too? Or even sex for that matter! Just because a thing is addictive or is not good for everyone doesn't mean we ban the item. You are trying to regulate behaviour and taking the stimuli for the behaviour doesn't accomplish that. Look at your history and see what the prohibition has achieved. Then look around and see why liquor is still being sold today.
actually i think they shoul be switched nobody dies from mary jane but cancersticks kill like 5% of the world like daily!
I think they should switch it..make weed legal (it's natural after all) and outlaw tobacco (which for the most part is filled with all kinds of unnatural crap as far as cigs go anyway).
No I'm not a smoker but I feel that if people want to enjoy a cancer stick every now and then who am I to stop them. besides no one tries to stop me when I eat artery clogging foods I think people should just let the smokers live in peace
No. Freedom of (informed) choice.
Smokers choose to do so, and any smoker that claims that they don't know that smoking isn't good for them is either a moron, or in complete denial.
But the government shouldn't be able to come in and take that choice away from us. Not when you can still buy guns on the street and have children at the age of 12.
In other words, there are much bigger problems to deal with than "smoking".
If you have a loved one that's smoking. Keep pestering them to quit. They'll get the hint eventually.
And by the way, not everyone who smokes gets cancer. Emphysema and heart disease are far more likely.
yes,i say its suicide
Absolutely. Cigarettes do just as much damage to a persons body over time, just in a different way. My father died of lung cancer when I was 18 months old. He had smoked cigarettes his whole teenage and adult life. Because of tobacco, I never got to know my dad and I never will. If I had the choice, I would make them both illegal. It is not right to allow the world to get hooked on these 'cancer' sticks just because someone makes a hell of a lot of money off of it. Tobacco is dangerous and addictive and it is mixed with poison. It is a drug.
definitely yes
yes, it's pure poison.
If people wish to commit suicide we cannot stop them. There are many polite ways of commiting suicide.
I say People should smoke only in there own home or a communal smoke in away from other people who do no like smoke.
Well I'm a smoker, but I'm gonna try and quit soon. Like with anything, if you make it illegal people will still try and get it on the black market or whatever and it won't be regulated, and there wont be controls of the quality of the stuff people are smoking..it could have anything in it!
At least now there are regulations in place.
While criminalising it may be a good idea as it will make it very difficult for smokers and encorage them to quit, at the end of the day, it's that's person's choice and there are so many restrictions on where people can smoke that it is lowering the risk of passive smoking.
But imagine what it would be like all the people having to quit at the same time? it certainly wouldn't be a happy environment and with regard to marijuana i think it should be legalised for pain relief etc and regulated very strongly..look at Amsterdam?
So no I don't think it should be criminalised.imagine all the taxes that would be lost by governments.it would equate to billions and alot of countries would just crumble like Canada and the UK who have extortionate levels of tax on tehir cigarettes and althoguh they are claiming taht smokingrelated illnesses are adrain on the economy..their taxes are paying for the NHS etc. I know people's lives are more important, but unfortunatly we are not living in an ideal world.
YES and do you know why??for all the medical problems it causes
i don't know in your country but here Everybody has medical insurance and we pay that by our income
so i pay a lot because i am working and a homeless don't pay at all
so all his medical bills are on my and a lot of other's income
if somebody wants to die because of tobacco that is HIS business so why should it be on my bill??
STOP SMOKING ENJOY THE LIFE
