YES! My son stammered quite badly for the first 6 years of his life. When I enrolled him in school, he was immediately evaluated by a speech therapist, and he went to therapy for his first year in school. They were able to do it at the end of the day, so he didn't miss class, and it was only for about an hour each day. He is now 17, and hasn't stammered since.
