Mark, age 3, is having his yearly health examination. His mom rather proudly, tells you that Mark eat's one

Question:
apple and carrot sticks everyday. She says that means that he gets all the vitamins he needs. How do you respond?

Answers:
I would tell her "it's really good that he likes fresh apples and carrots. How about taking him to a greengrocers and letting him choose other fruits and vegetables to try? It's really nice that you are encouraging him to eat healthily. Have fun getting him experimenting with other foods to make sure that he gets a really broad spectrum of vitamins and nutrients in his diet"

I think that you should be careful not to belittle her and go for encouragement rather than criticism.

Other Answers:
I would laugh, that's how I would respond.

well I am glad Mark eats apples and carrots but he still needs a children's vitamin.

get her committed to the looney station

ok
at this age eating apple and carrots is very healthy for him my son is 6 years old and hi refuses to eat any apple

Apple and Carrot are not a balanced diet. They provide vits A and C in small doses. Mark needs vitamin B (cereals and other foods) D (sunshine) E (fatty acids) and K (spinach)in addition to A & C. Mark also needs various minerals.

I suggest Mother considers doing some form of nutrition course where she would learn about healthy eating.

I would congratulate her but then help her to know more about more healthy foods the importsance of fruits, eggs, milk etc etc The mother has to be proud of the children and we have to encourage them and speak in same wave length. The doctors know the trick how to handl proud mothers.

I would tell her that is great but that will not give him all the vitamins he needs.

is this a joke

lol crazy woman! report her to a health advisor ASAP!

Yes, I would say that with time she should stick to just tap water instead of all these fruit. Phytoplancton also contains a lot of healthy, nutritious substances. This isn't serious.

one apple and carrot is not enough for him to get the daily nutrition that he need he has to have three servings of fruit and veggies every day along with his protein and starches

I would tell her she's wrong, and to get her facts straight.

U cant get all the essential nutrients from just apple & carrots.

common sense

SO

Remind her about the food pyramid.

I would say "Ms Mark's mommy..DON'T FUKK WITH ME ABOUT NO APPLE AND NO CARROT NOW TELL ME WHAT THAT RUGRAT EATS."

ok goooooood

Tell this kid about t-bones.

listen to your mom she knows best for you.She wants you to be healthy.

Hi!
Oh my gosh! Mark needs to be eating table food, which includes some protein! It can be a turkey or chicken sandwich or even peanut butter and jelly, assuming that the child has no allergies. Fruits and vegetables are great, but the child needs a full menu of foods. I hope that he is washing those apples and carrots down with a big eight ounce glass of milk. This child sounds like he is malnourished. He must be small for his age, and his Ped will notice this. Maybe you can suggest a that she give the boy a variety of foods, and start introducing real table food, other than what he is currently eating. He MUST be a tiny boy for his age. Good Luck.

Is his mom a doctor? Or just too lazy to cook the boy a hot dog?

it is realy good i appreciate that

laugh a bit.

I hope thats not all he eats.

it wont give full strengths

I think that her mother needs a check on her health too (including mentally) giving the same kind of food to her children everyday wont guarantee that they are covered in all aspects of vitamin and fibre if she thinks so.

She needs a nutritionist too..

Sounds like one of the quesions in my nutrition class. Encourage the mom to continue with the apple and carrot and add some green leafy veggies to his diet, and some lowfat meats and whole grain products to his diet. If he gets a good balance, pediatric vitamins are not necessary and can be harmful.

i know this isn't what you probably want to hear but you are lucky he eats that. Most kids these days don't get their veg. and fruit allotment.

I would tell her she's wrong, and to get her facts straight.

his mom is very uneducated
