I am terrified of slugs; are there any cures?

Question:

Answers:
I am strangly terrified of worms. It gets so bad that after it rains I won't go outside for a long time and I can almost swear I smell them (like a dirty musky smell).

I've even gone as far as to tell my husband that when I die I do not want to be burried underground for the fear of worms and being underground with them. ><

I don't know of any good cures for fears like this (If I knew, I wouldn't have the fears) But people have always told me to "face your fears" Or maybe in your case, get a HUGE container of salt.

Other Answers:
face your fear, that's the only way.hmm..slugs are not dangerous.I don't know why you fear them :/

just don't be around them, leave them alone and they will leave you alone

There are several types of "slugs". Which one makes you afraid?

The snail type.
The punch in the arm type.
or
The bullet type.

Regardless, to get over a fear you must face it one on one. It is a matter of will power and desire. The only other way is deep therapy or hypnosis.

MANAGEMENT

A good snail and slug management program relies on a combination of methods. The first step is to eliminate, to the extent possible, all places where snails or slugs can hide during the day. Boards, stones, debris, weedy areas around tree trunks, leafy branches growing close to the ground, and dense ground covers such as ivy are ideal sheltering spots. There will be shelters that are not possible to eliminate—e.g., low ledges on fences, the undersides of wooden decks, and water meter boxes. Make a regular practice of trapping and removing snails and slugs in these areas. Also, locate vegetable gardens or susceptible plants as far away as possible from these areas. Reducing hiding places allows fewer snails and slugs to survive. The survivors congregate in the remaining shelters, where they can more easily be located and removed. Switching from sprinkler irrigation to drip irrigation will reduce humidity and moist surfaces, making the habitat less favorable for these pests. Choose snail-proof plants for areas where snails and slugs are dense. Copper barriers can be useful for protecting especially susceptible plants. Though baits can be part of a management program for snails and slugs, by themselves they don’t provide adequate control in gardens that contain plenty of shelter, food, and moisture.

I don't really know, but if you just bear in mind that they can't harm you (just you cabbages) it may help. Also, carry salt with you if you're really scared- little packets from resturants would be ideal.

Well, boys will be boys!

Well I'm scared of em too, so far found no way to cure the stupid fobia!

SALT

pour salt on them! it is cool cuz they start foaming and then they die! if you have salt with you you'll be fine!

you have to face your fears, and if you can do that then you are pretty tough.

Salt.

Stay away from slugs.

salt?

Quit being a nerd and get some salt.lol.Just kidding. Fears are strange and wierd but if you know now and are aware that you are scared than you can change it and do something about it. good luck.

i dont really even think you need a cure for this. ITS NOT KILLING YOUR OR ANYTHING
Source(s):
its just a slug!! you ARE aloud to be afraid of them. i am too.

Pour salt on them, and they will shrivel and die, nothing to be afraid of if simple salt can kill them.

Personal experiance. I am from the island where there is an abundance of slugs.

First, there is no need to be afraid of them, they cannot hurt you. I know they're creepy looking and you may be freaked-out by their slimy appearance but try and chill. There are several ways to get rid of them and keep them from coming back. If you notice them around your plants take some crushed egg shells and spread them around the base of the plant - the shells are rough to their shin and they will leave. Adding human hair into the mix will also help because it tangles around them like a net and eventually it will kill them.

Look on a garden supply website and you can probably find other methods. Good Luck.

I would say stay away from them.

It's not like they are something you need in your life.

I hate roaches, probably just as much as you hate slugs, so I won't live them, I stay far away from those neighborhoods.

I don't think I could ever try to get over it and make friends with a roach.

I went slug hunting before. LOL
