Question:
My friend is five two seventy seven lbs(last checked)she had leg operation(bone lengthening)now shes fully recovered she exercises her legs with weights(2 kgs)and does it twice everyday. She can walk maybe holding chairs around or something but she is finding it a bit hard to walk on her own fully yet.any ideas or suggestions what she can do to completely walk on her own(she uses minimum support and can walk).please help.

Answers:
I would suggest that she meet with her doctor and get a referral to a physical therapist. They will be able to work with her using a series of physical tasks to assist in her being able to walk completely on her own, or with a cane.

Good luck!

Other Answers:
The recovery may take time, and she will have to keep up with the physical therapy and weight exercises for a while. If there is a local indoor pool around (maybe a community college or health club) she should start swimming and walking around in the pool. This will relieve a lot of pressure on her legs and allow her to stand up and walk on her own. Also, the water offers gentle resistance which will help build strength in her legs. If possible the pool should be heated, because the warm water will have a soothing effect and help relieve tension and pain. Good luck!
