The piercing itself hurt a little, what hurts is when they pull out your tongue cause they have to clamp down on your tongue hard to get a grip on it.I was concentrating on that pain and barely felt the actual piercing.

Ive had mine for about 5 yrs now. It didnt hurt at all, and I am terrified of needles but I was fine. The only thing is its a little painful for a few days afterwards.

the first day you won't be able to speak or eat properly, but the pain won't be strong. you will have to use, though, "listerine" or something to prevent infection

I have mine pierced and yes it hurt. Most of the pain came from them clamping my tongue and holding on to it. That's mostly an annoying pain. When they pushed the needle through, it was excruciating, but it only lasted a second. It was enough of a shock to my nervous system that I became a drool factory though. I thought I was bleeding, but no, it was drool. :P

It depends on you tolerence to pain.I had mine done and it was like a large bee had stung me in my mouth for about an hour..Then the swelling started and then It was cool.I drank literine after every drink (of anything) and after smoking/..The good rule is.IF SOMETHING GOES OVER YOUR TONGUE..RINSE WITH LISTERINE..Mine was done and healed and I was eating a full meal in 3 days.During the healing time you can eat things like.Mashed potatoes.)just swallow).and anything you do not have to chew..It is worth it and you will enjoy it when you are healed.

Now if you are looking at getting a tongue ring for shock value.DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME..
If you are looking to get a tongue ring for the true reasons and uses..GO FOR IT..They are a great bed time tool..
