I have extrme pain in my left jaw, cannot chew anything nor can I open the mouth wider. Can somebody suggest?

Question:

Answers:
When someone has severe pain in the jaw accompanied with an inability to open the jaw my mind jumps to Tetnus. The tetnus toxin causes muscles to contract and become unable to release. This accounts for the pain and for the inabiliy to open the jaw. If you have had a "dirty" wound (one that occurs outside or in another uncleaned place, not from a kitchen knife or recently broken glass inside)or puncture wound in the last several weeks I would make a trip to the ER.

u might have lock jaw. did u just have any surgery on your mouth like wisdom teeth removed? when i had that i couldnt eat properly for 2 weeks. u should see or call ur dentist because it sounds like lock-jaw, which can be fixed by slowly trying to open your mouth wide over and over like an exercise.

I am not a Dr. but I had a Friend that got kicked by a horse and was cut open. He had the same thing and the Dr. said it was tetanus. I would see a Dr. or dentist soon.

This is the first sign of AIDS. if your knees start to quiver. you might want to cure it by eating pine-needles, and walking on your knees all day long instead of your feet

i think you have a badly decayed tooth on the left side of your jaw meaning you have a carious tooth with caries going deep to the pulp(the core of the tooth)causing severe inflamation in the area which is causing severe pain when you bite on it .my advice is to go as soon as possible to a dentist to establish endo treatment & you might even need anti biotec in the begining of the treatment if your case is very severe.
